Second Chance Bangkok is a local initiative by residents of Bangkok's largest slum, Klong Toey. We rely on donations of quality second-hand goodsﾠ and sell them to residents of Klong Toey community at affordable prices, or pass them on to those who lack the resources to purchase these essential items themselves.
The shop creates employment for many local residents, in the second hand shop, and through the upcyled project where women with skills in sewing are transforming clothing into beautiful bags and giftwares. click here for more details
Surrey Docks Farm is a working community farm in Rotherhithe that aims to educate local people about where their food comes from and promotes getting active outdoors.
We have all the usual farm animals on site, as well as food growing gardens. We sell eggs, meat, fruit and vegetables through our farm shop. We engage the whole community delivering toddlers club, youth clubs, hosting school visits as well as volunteering and work experience and training projects for adults with learning disabilities.
Open 7 days a week from 10am til 4pm we offer a beautiful bit of rural life in the heart of the city. Entry is free for visitors, so come and explore, feed the goats and get in touch with your inner countryside! Please note we do need to book and charge for organised groups.
The Silver Line Helpline provides three functions to support older people:
• a sign-posting service to link them into the many, varied services that exist around the country
• a befriending service to combat loneliness
• a means of empowering those who may be suffering abuse and neglect, if appropriate to transfer them to specialist services to protect them from harm
